#1. Migrate Email from Yahoo to Gmail Via Gmailify

Have you ever heard about Gmailify? If not, then don’t worry, first have a quick insight into the same. 

Gmailify is a feature from Google that lets you link your Yahoo, Outlook, or other email accounts to Gmail. The setup is quick:

1. In Gmail, open Settings > Accounts and Import.
2. Under “Check mail from other accounts,” click Add a mail account.
3. Enter your Yahoo address and select Link accounts with Gmailify.
4. Logged into Yahoo and allowed access.

From now on, Gmail will start syncing your Yahoo messages automatically. Despite that, if you decide to migrate your entire data to Google Workspace and want a one-time import, then opt for the next option. 

#2. Import Yahoo Email to Gmail

If you don’t want to download emails from Yahoo, then import. Don’t worry, I have the solution for you, i.e.

1. In Gmail, go to Settings > Accounts and Import.
2. Click on Import mail and contacts.
3. Enter your Yahoo credentials and confirm.
4. Choose to import both contacts and emails.

The process will run in the background. So, you don’t keep an eye on that; when it is completed, a message will be prompted. 

#3. Use POP Fetcher to Migrate Email from Yahoo to Gmail

If you don’t want Gmailify but still want Gmail to keep pulling messages, POP works fine. The only limitation is that Gmail checks Yahoo periodically, not in real time.

To set this up, you have to generate a Yahoo app password first:

• Sign in to your Yahoo Mail account.
• Go to Account Security.
• Click Generate app password.
• Select Gmail and click Generate.
• Copy the app password.

Then in Gmail:

1. Settings > Accounts and Import > Check mail from other accounts > Add a mail account.
2. Enter your Yahoo address and choose Import emails using POP3.
3. Fill in:
   • Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
   • Port: 995
   • SSL: Enabled
   • Username: Yahoo email
   • Password: Yahoo app password

#4. Yahoo Auto-Forwarding (Paid Only)

This used to be free to import Yahoo email to Gmail, but not anymore. Yahoo now requires a Mail Plus subscription or the Access + Forwarding add-on if you want messages forwarded instantly to Gmail.

• Sign in to Yahoo Mail.
• Click Settings and select More Settings.
• Go to Mailboxes.
• Select your Yahoo email address.
• In the Forwarding section, enter your Gmail address.
• Click Verify.
• Open Gmail and confirm the verification email from Yahoo.

After importing, I still wanted to reply to some contacts using my Yahoo address. Gmail allows me to do that too:

1. In Gmail settings, under Send mail as, I clicked Add another email address.
2. Entered my Yahoo details.
3. Used Yahoo’s SMTP server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com, port 465 or 587, with SSL/TLS and my app password.

Now, when I compose an email, I can pick Yahoo as the “from” address.
